Tour schedule

Day 1: Grassland Wildlife and Green Peafowl Exploration

In the morning: Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Ho Chi Minh city to Cat Tien pational park (drive/04 hours) or Or travel from Da Lat city to Cat Tien national park (drive/5 hours).

15:00 PM. Explore Cat Tien’s grassland ecosystem in search of wildlife. This habitat provides opportunities to observe and photograph a range of species including Green Peafowl, Oriental-Pied Hornbill, Woolly-necked Stork, Francolin, Parakeets and Sambar Deer, Wild Boar, Muntjac, Common Palm Civet; Asian Small-clawed Otter; Yellow-throated Marten; Large-toothed Ferret Badger; Small Indian Civet and Various ground-dwelling birds. Other mammals active during the late afternoon as dusk approaches, wildlife activity often increases, creating excellent conditions for observation and photography (Car/Bike ≈  20 km/ 3,5 hours).

Day 2: Wild gibbon and mammals exploration

04:45 AM: Southern Yellow-cheeked Gibbon (Nomascus gabriellae) tour  (trek ≈  05km/2,5 hours)

Begin your early morning wild gibbon trek, following the calls of Southern Yellow-cheeked Gibbon (Nomascus gabriellae) through the evergreen forest. Other wildlife may include: Black-shanked Douc Langur (Pygathrix nigripes), Pig-tailed Macaque, Malayan flying Lemur, Eastern striped and Pallas’ squirrel

You will have the opportunity to observe and photograph the Southern Yellow-cheeked Gibbon (Nomascus gabriellae) as it forages, cares for its young and communicates with other family members during the early morning. Witnessing the gibbons’ remarkable dawn chorus in their natural habitat is one of the most memorable wildlife experiences in Cat Tien National Park.

The Southern Yellow-cheeked Gibbon is found only in southern Vietnam and eastern Cambodia. Adult males have black fur with distinctive golden-yellow cheeks, while adult females and juveniles are pale yellow to buff in colour. Like all apes, gibbons have no tail and possess exceptionally long arms, enabling them to move effortlessly through the forest canopy.

08:30 AM:Take a short walk around the park headquarters for the opportunity to observe a family of wild Southern Yellow-cheeked Gibbon. (Walk ≈ 1 km/ 02 hours)

Lunch and rest.

14:00 PM. Transfer to the Crocodile Lake access point. Travel approximately 9 km through the forest by vehicle or bicycle, followed by a 5 km guided trek to Crocodile Lake. The route passes through pristine lowland rainforest and offers opportunities to encounter Black-shanked Douc Langur, Annamese Langur, Southern Yellow-cheeked Gibbon and Woodpeckers, Hornbills and Reptiles and amphibians.

Arrive at Crocodile Lake, one of the most significant wetland ecosystems within Cat Tien National Park. This unique habitat provides excellent opportunities for wildlife observation, with possible sightings of the Pygmy Slow Loris, Yellow-throated Marten, Large-toothed Ferret Badger, Common Palm Civet, Small Indian Civet, Fishing Cat, Sunda Pangolin, and a variety of other mammal species.

Overnight: Crocodile Lake Ranger Station,

Day 3: Siamese Crocodile and Wetland Birds in Cat Tien National Park

06:30 AM: Early morning walking around on Crocodile Lake. This internationally significant wetland supports a diverse community of waterbirds and is one of the few locations in Vietnam where the critically endangered Siamese Crocodile has been successfully restored through long-term conservation programmes. Potential wildlife observations include Siamese Crocodile, Green Peafowl, Cotton Pygmy Geese, Lesser Adjutant, Asian Woolly-necked Stork, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Oriental Darter, Purple Heron, Egrets and kingfishers … Other wetland bird and mammal species. The calm morning conditions provide excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and photography.

08:30 AM. Embark on a forest trek through Cat Tien National Park’s lowland rainforest, home to towering trees such as Tetrameles nudiflora and Lagerstroemia speciosa. As you explore the forest, keep an eye out for parakeets, hornbills, Black-shanked Douc Langur, Annamese Langur, Northern Pig-tailed Macaques, Long-tailed Macaques, Black Giant Squirrels, and a variety of reptiles, including the Chinese Water Dragon, Cát Tiên Bent-toed Gecko, Reticulated Python, and Ruby-eyed Pit Viper, Gunther’s Kukri Snake. The excursion features a guided 5 km walk through the surrounding forest before returning to the park headquarters. (Trek ≈ 05 km and Car/Bike ≈  09 km/ 2,5 hours).

12:30 PM. Depart Cat Tien National Park
