Hightlight tour: Day Southern Vietnam Bird Photography & Endemic Bird Tour | Cat Tien, Dong Nai, Di Linh & Da Lat tour offers exceptional opportunities to observe and photograph a remarkable diversity of birds, mammals and other wildlife in their natural habitats across Dong Nai Nature Reserve, Cat Tien National Park, the Di Linh Plateau, Da lat Plateau, and Bidoup – Nui Ba National Park.  Together throught, these internationally recognised Important Bird Areas support more than 500 recorded bird species, making this one of the richest birding itineraries in mainland Southeast Asia. Travelling through lowland evergreen forest, semi-evergreen forest, seasonally flooded wetlands, grasslands and hightland montane evergreen forest, pine woodland. The itinerary has been designed to maximise encounters with Vietnam’s endemic, near-endemic and regional speciality birds while exploring some of the country’s richest biodiversity hotspots. Day 01: Arrival – Broadbills Bird Photography at  Dong Nai Culture & Nature Reserve

Morning: Dong Nai Nature Reserve hosts more than 284 species of birds. and the reserve is situated 100 km (approximately 03 hours’ drive) from Ho Chi Minh City.  A car will pick you up at Tan Son Nhat Airport or your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. 
Afternoon: Photograph a variety of forest birds from a professionally positioned bird hide. Target species may include Black-and-red Broadbill, Banded Broadbill, Silver-breasted Broadbill, Indochinese Green Magpie, Racket-tailed Treepie, White-throated Rock Thrush, Hainan Blue Flycatcher, Indochinese Blue Flycatcher, Grey-eyed Bulbul, Ochraceous Bulbul, Black-crested Bulbul, Stripe-throated Bulbul, Yellow-vented Flowerpecker, and Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker. 

Overnight: Tri An town – Dong Nai city

Day 02: Kingfishers Bird Photography & Green Peafowl Birdwatching 

Morning: Transfer to a bird hide in Ma Da Forest for a bird photography session. Target species include Banded Kingfisher, Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher, Grey-faced Tit-Babbler, Scaly-crowned Babbler, Abbott’s Babbler, Buff-breasted Babbler, Puff-throated Babbler, Common Flameback, Greater Flameback, Laced Woodpecker, Lesser Yellownape, Red-headed Trogon, Orange-breasted Trogon, Streak-eared Bulbul, Black-headed Bulbul, and Sooty-headed Bulbul.

Midday: Depart Ma Da Forest for Cat Tien National Park (approximately 120 km/03 hours). Enjoy lunch en route before checking in at your lodge.

Afternoon (15:00–18:30): Visit Nui Tuong Grassland, one of the best locations in Cat Tien National Park for observing Green Peafowl. Other possible sightings include Chinese Francolin, Alexandrine Parakeet, Red-breasted Parakeet, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Wreathed Hornbill, and mammals such as Sambar Deer, Northern Red Muntjac, Gaur, and Large Indian Civet. 
19:30–20:30: Dinner at the lodge.

Day 03: Cat Tien National Park for  Explore birding

⏰06:30 AM – 11:00 AM: 09 km (One-way) Through the rich ecosystems of Lagerstroemia, Semi-evergreen, and Mixed bamboo-wood forests photograph bird species such as Black and red & Banded & Ducky Broadbill, Banded Kingfisher, Orange-breasted and Red-headed Trogon and more. In deep forest can see wildlife highlights include:Black-Shanked Douc Langur; Long-Tailed Macaque; Black Giant Squirre, Crocodiles, lizards, skinks, and snakes.

15:00 PM – 18:30 PM: 07 km (One-way)  Explore birding opportunities accessible inside the park.  Several species of woodpeckers can be found such as White-bellied, Great Slaty,  Pale-headed, Heart-spotted, Black and Buff,  Laced, Grey-capped Pygmy, and Rufous. Other target species include Grey-headed Fish-eagle, Chestnut-headed Bee-eater, Dollarbird, Indian Roller, Great Hornbill, Great Flameback, Greater Yellownape, and occasionally the Red-headed Trogon..

Nocturnal Birds: After dinner, explore the forest for nocturnal birds. Look out for the Great Eared Nightjar, Large-tailed Nightjar, Asian Barred Owlet, Collared Scops Owl, Brown Hawk Owl, and Javan Frogmouth.

Day 04: Cat Tien national park – Di Linh forest

Morning: After breakfast, the walking explore the surrounding forest. Keep an eye out for Thick-Billed Green Pigeon, White-Browed Piculet, Collared Falconet, Blue-bearded Bee-eater, Lesser Yellownaped, Little Spiderhunter, Crimson Sunbird, Olive-backed Sunbird, Eurasian Hoopoe, and Black-hooded Oriole.

After lunch, you will be transferred to birding site named Deo Nui San (a 100 km/03-hours drive), where you enjoy an afternoon watching birds. In this area, you may encounter a variety of target bird species such as Black-headed Parrotbill, Orange-breasted Laughingthrush, Black-headed and white-cheeked Laughingthrushes, Blue and Blue-rumped Pittas, Yellow-vented Green Pigeon, Indochinese-green Magpie, Bar-backed Partridge, Red-vented Barbet, Annam  Streaked Wren-babbler, Silver-breasted Broadbill.

Day 05: Di Linh forest – Dalat city

In this early morning, you will drive back to Deo Nui San to bird until noon time, then return to hotel for lunch.

After lunch, you continue drive along Highway 20 for another 80km northwards to reach Datanla waterfall, a birding spot, located in the middle of Prenn Pass forest about 6km south of Dalat. Here you will begin to explore all sort of birds in Da Lat plateau.

Day 06: Biduop National Park – Dalat city

With breakfast and lunch to take a way, you will have a full-day visit to Biduop-Nui Ba National Park (a 40 km/01-hours drive), which is known as one of the best place to watch birds and wildlife among Central Highlands of Viet Nam. Noted below are some key-bird species that you may see in this National Park:Vietnamese Greenfinch, Red Crossbill, Collared Laughingthrush, Green Cochoa, Vietnamese Cutia, Rusty-napped and Blue Pittas, Black-crowned Fulveta, Indochinese Barbet, Dalat Shrike Babbler, Grey-crowned Tit, Yellow-billed Nuthatch, Indochinese Wren Babbler, Langbian Tit, Plain Minla, Spotted Folktail, Annam Sunbirds, and other common bird species.

Day 07: Da Lat City – Lien Khuong airport

⏰06:30 AM: Birding until noon time a small evergreen forest in Ta Nung valley, where we will look for the rare and endemic Gray-crowned Crocias along with White-cheeked Laughingthrush, Langbian Sunbird, Black-headed Sibia the most wanted bird species that often show up very early morning can be a top priority of birds during this tour then lunch on the way before you leave DaLat  to Lien Khuong airport.

⏰12:30 PM: Lien Khuong Airport, to Ho Chi Minh City (1-hour flight).
