Discover nature’s symphony on a birding tour, observing vibrant avian life in its natural habitat.
Day 01: Dong Nai Culture & Nature Reserve
Vinh Cuu Nature Reserve hosts more than 284 species of birds. and the reserve is situated 100 km (approximately 03 hours’ drive) from Ho Chi Minh City. A car will pick you up at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
On this tour, you will have opportunities to photograph bird species such as the Indochinese Green Magpie, Bar-bellied and Blue-rumped Pitta, Silver-breasted and Black-and-Red and Banded Broadbill, Banded Kingfisher, Scaly-crowned Babbler, Abbott’s Babbler, Buff-breasted Babbler, Puff-throated Babbler, Common Flameback, Laced Woodpecker, Lesser Yellownape, Orange-breasted Trogon, Streak-eared Bulbul, Black-headed Bulbul, Sooty-headed Bulbul, Grey-eyed Bulbul, Racket-tailed Treepie, White-throated Rock Thrush, Hainan Blue and Indochinese Blue Flycatcher, Yellow-vented and Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, Orchraeous, Bulbul, Black-crested Bulbul, and Stripe-throated Bulbul.
Day 02: Dong Nai Culture & Nature Reserve – Cat Tien National Park
Morning: Explore Dong Nai Nature Reseve area to find waterbirds such as the Bronze-winged Jacana, White-browed Crake, Common Shelduck, Lesser Whistling Duck, Common Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Stork-billed Kingfisher, Cattle Egret, Great Egret, Grey Heron, Purple Heron, Cinnamon Bittern, and Black-winged Stilt.
10:30 am: Depart from Dong Nai Culture & Nature Reserve and drive to Cat Tien National Park (a 100 km/03-hours drive). Cat Tien National Park is home to 350 bird species. Enjoy lunch, check in, and take some rest in Cat Tien.
Afternoon: Focus on photographing species such as the Green Peafowl, Woolly-necked Stork, Green Imperial Pigeon, Red-breasted Parakeet, Green-eared Barbet, Chinese Francolin, Oriental-pied Hornbill, Lesser Adjutant Stork, and Red-wattled Lapwing.
Day 03 – 04: Cat Tien National Park for Photography – Explore birding
Photography target species include Germain’s Peacock Pheasant, Siamese Fireback, Green-legged & Orange-necked Partridge, Bar-bellied & Blue-winged & Blue-rumped Pitta, Grey-faced Tit Babbler, White-rumped Shama, Asian Brown Flycatcher, and several species of Bulbuls and Babblers.
Explore birding opportunities accessible inside the park. Several species of woodpeckers can be found such as White-bellied, Great Slaty, Pale-headed, Heart-spotted, Black and Buff, Laced, Grey-capped, Pygmy, and Rufous. Other target species include Grey-headed Fish-eagle, Chestnut-headed Bee-eater, Dollarbird, Indian Roller, Great Hornbill, Great Flameback, Greater Yellownape, and occasionally the Red-headed Trogon..
Nocturnal Birds: After dinner, explore the forest for nocturnal birds. Look out for the Great Eared Owl, Large-tailed Nightjar, Asian Barred Owlet, Collared Scops Owl, Brown Hawk Owl, and Javan Frogmouth.
Day 05: Farewell
Morning: After breakfast, explore the surrounding forest. Keep an eye out for Thick-Billed Green Pigeon, White-Browed Piculet, Collared Falconet, Blue-bearded Bee-eater, Lesser Yellownaped, Little Spiderhunter, Crimson Sunbird, Olive-backed Sunbird, Eurasian Hoopoe, and Black-hooded Oriole. The best time for birding is between Norvember and May.
11:30 am: Enjoy lunch and depart from Cat Tien to:
* Ho Chi Minh city (Tan Son Nhat airpost);
* Dalat plateau (Lien Khuong airpost, Dalat city);
* Beach of Mui Ne (Phan Thiet province), Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa province), Baria (Vung Tau province).
